Making sure you choose the best boarding school for your child

Sending your child to boarding school is a big decision in itself but once you have made this decision then an even bigger one must be made in choosing the right school for your child. There are so many things to be taken into consideration and you need to do your research thoroughly and carefully.

The location of the school is very important and you will possibly want one that is in quite close proximity to your home. If you live in the south of England there are several boarding schools that are nicely located and have several nice features that add to this. Along the south coast this is especially true.

A school on or near the coast can offer many extra activities that are not easily accessible in some other schools. These include sailing, wind surfing and sea canoeing. Because of close proximity to the sea, such activities take much less organization than it would from a school further inland.

Other attractions in the south of England include the New Forest National Park, many walking and hiking trails and historical cities such as Salisbury and Winchester. Boarding schools in the south are also easily accessible from all the main travelling routes such as the M25, the M3 and the M27 which runs along the south coast.

The best place to start looking for a suitable school is on the internet. All the good schools have websites and they will publish their prospectus there as well. Once you have narrowed your selection down to a few schools then you can arrange to co and visit them. The head teacher will be more than happy to answer all of your questions and then you can make an informed decision on the best school for your child.
