Finding the best childcare for when you’re at work

whether you are a single working parent, or both parents work in your home, then one thing you need to think about is childcare, but if you consider the fact that you have an hour commute to start and end the day then you may actually be in need of something like ‘wraparound’ childcare.

This means you have to pay someone to look after your children from 7:30 in the morning until 7pm at night or in some cases even more. When you consider the fact that most children are in bed by 8pm or 9pm at night this does not leave much time for parents to spend with their children.

Given the small amount of time that is available to spend with children, attempting to make sure that this time is ‘quality’ time is very important. Even once your children get older in age and their bedtimes become later and later school days still do not come to a close until 3pm rolls around. At this point you need to figure out who will look after your child past school and how much it will cost you.

The good news is that in the UK if you have a child that is younger than six years of age you can ask your boss for flexible working hours that can help make the time you spend at work and home a bit more manageable.

Of course, if you do not have a sympathetic boss your request can be rejected and then you are once again no farther ahead or behind. This is why running a business from home can be the best solution if you can figure out a way to do so.
